Autumn Equinox Flow

Welcome Fall–Celebrate the Autumnal Equinox

It's that time of year again already… the summer has come and gone and on this day we celebrate the official arrival of autumn.

These seasonal rhythm changes happen every year as our planet Earth orbits the Sun. And we welcome a change of season. The summer heat has already dissipated and the weather has become much cooler-autumn is in the air. And with the cooler temps, the garden has slowed considerably. Many plants have flowered and set seed and some have even turned brown and withered.

The Yoga Loft offers a ritual to help us celebrate the Fall Equinox and cultivate a sense of balance and harmony in our lives. A balance of light and dark, yin and yang, sun and moon. One could even say a balance of sthira and sukha: sthira as the steadiness of working and activity in the day and sukha as the quiet reprieve or fun-filled ease of nighttime.

Join us on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at 6pm for a 90 minute flow that will help you ground and centre while honouring the seasonal shift.

OCTOBER CHALLENGE

$108 unlimited for the month of October

Yoga challenges, often combined with meditation, are an excellent way to deepen your practice and push your boundaries. Whether you’re looking to enhance your flexibility, build strength, or cultivate mental focus, engaging in a yoga challenge can offer a structured path to personal growth. In addition to completing 12 classes (or more) in 1 month, the discipline and mindfulness required in a challenge can lead to reduced stress and greater mental clarity.

An additional (& totally optional) challenge for you is to practice mindfulness off your mat for the remainder of this October challenge. We won’t be keeping score but to keep things interesting for the 30 days in October...

  1. Spend 8 days practicing mindful eating. Mindful eating (i.e., paying attention to our food, on purpose, moment by moment, without judgment) is an approach to food that focuses on individuals’ sensual awareness of the food and their experience of the food. It has little to do with calories, carbohydrates, fat, or protein. The purpose of mindful eating is not to lose weight, although it is highly likely that those who adopt this style of eating will lose weight. The intention is to help individuals savour the moment, the food and encourage their full presence for the eating experience.

  2. Spend 6 days slowing down to reframe and shift your perspective. Reframing is a way for us to broaden our perspectives, consider an alternative, and extend compassion to others and ourselves. It can be challenging to do at the moment but with practice, it gets easier - even if it's in hindsight. Take this as another opportunity to practice reframing and honing your skill! Just like how mental health is a muscle, the ability to reframe situations is also a muscle that we need to constantly work on for it to not only become stronger but to maintain it as well.

  3. Spend 5 days practicing meditation. Meditation is exploring. It’s not a fixed destination. Your head doesn’t become vacuumed free of thought, utterly undistracted. It’s a special place where each and every moment is momentous meditation asks us to suspend judgment and unleash our natural curiosity about the workings of the mind, approaching our experience with warmth and kindness, to ourselves and others. Whether it’s 2 minutes in your savasana practice or 30 minutes guided by a youtube video - there are no limits to mindfulness.

Can't wait to see what you are capable during this challenge!

Participating in a yoga challenge is more than just doing yoga and meeting the requirements. It represents a personal commitment that you make to yourself. It can often be easier to find the time for work, family & friends than to make time for ourselves. This yoga challenge offers you a structure for creating time each day to nurture yourself. To commit an hour to yourself is a simple, beautiful gift.

The goal is to complete 12 classes in 30 days. If you show up to 12 classes, it works out to be $9 per class. If you show up for all 19 classes available, it ends up being $5.68 per class. An amazing value! One class out of the 12 classes must be a Jam Session class or two classes out of the 12 classes must be Vinyasa Flow classes. As an added bonus, participants will be eligible to enter a challenge for an incredible bundle of prizes who complete the challenge, including a private one-on-one yoga class with yours truly!

Those who have come to the Yoga Loft before, know that this space is small and spots are limited. Pending on the number of class sign ups, more classes will be added accordingly.

Please note, this offer is only applicable for the month of October. Classes booked outside of this month will NOT be valid. Students who already have Yoga Loft passes may choose to use their passes in the month of October but it would make more sense to use up the passes before or after the challenge, just depending on when they expire.
