Juicing Recipes and Guide

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • Sharp chopping knife

  • Cutting board

  • Strainer

  • Juicer. I have the Omega Masticating Juicer. I tried my mom’s Breville juicer and it had too much wastage.

  • Mason jar or large glass for drinking/storing

HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED TO DO FOR EACH JUICE RECIPE:

  • Rinse all ingredients as needed. Cut them so they fit easily into the feed tube of your juicer.

  • Depending on your juicer, I like to leave some rind on my lemons for example to ensure it gives my machine some hardy materials to flush through the juicer. Fruit that have too much pulp or are too soft end up getting mashed inside the housing tube of the machine and nothing gets pushed through.

  • Start by juicing the pulpy/soft fruit ie. watermelon, pineapple, followed by ginger or vegetables such as cucumber, celery or fruit that is less soft ie. apples.

  • Intermittently rotate between soft fruit followed and hard fruit/vegetables to help push through the housing tube.

  • I like to end my juice with romaine, kale, and spinach and finally, celery to help clean out any remnant pulp in the machine. The celery helps to clean the ginger and leafy fibres out of the juicer.

  • Remove any remaining bits of fibre (which will look like foam) by pouring the juice through a wire strainer.

  • Drink immediately, or refrigerate for up to 24-48 hours in a closed container.
